This new museum building on the University Cat Hill campus houses the Silver Studio of Decorative Design and its related collection. It functions as a unique resource centre for everyone interested in the history of nineteenth and twentieth century domestic architecture, design and decoration. The building provides a purpose built, secure, environmentally controlled accommodation which includes permanent and temporary galleries, study facilities and a conservation studio. The Museum offers the public an educational programme of exhibitions, short courses and lectures and provide for an intensive programme of Conservation, cataloguing and research.
The project was funded with a Heritage Lottery Fund Grant and the practice was fully involved in close consultation with the Museum staff, the Silver family and the HLF.
