Powis Garden

PROJECT: Subterranean extension under the existing gardens of a victorian house.
LOCATION: Notting Hill Gate London

The existing property is a 4 storey Victorian house which had been subdivided into separate apartments. Due to planning constraints, privacy and neighbourhood issues, the only acceptable planning solution was to build below the existing garden level. The clients' requirement was to create a new modern below garden level extension with large open plan living areas. These have been designed to create light and airy space avoiding the potential for claustrophobic below ground feel.
