The site lies within the conservation area and close consultation was required with the planners. The new Nursery is constructed on a raft foundation straddling across the District Underground lines and close consultations and liaison had to be carried out with London transport during the construction phase. The new roof over the extension is an "extensive green roof" with Sedum planting creating the impression of a pleasant green amenity space when viewed from the surrounding buildings, whilst increasing the roof U-values and providing the school children with the opportunity to understand the importance of providing green accommodation. The works had to be phased to enable the use of the school during the construction phase and close liaison and communication was held throughout the project. A new mezzanine floor was created within the volume of the existing building to cater for new staff, IT and teaching facilities.
